I live in North Texas and I'm deathly afraid of tornado's. Fortunately, I've never experienced one in real life, I've only seen what is left or not left standing after one. I have plenty of paper books in case of a power outage, but I would be lost without my electronics in a power outage. This just makes me think and realize how woefully unprepared I am in case of one.
No matter where we live on this great planet, we sure do need to be prepared for more weather events than in the past. (And we can certainly hope that preparation never needs to be put to the test!) Being without electronics for work, updates on what was happening and clean-up, to check in with people near and far was definitely an issue. Thankfully we could charge the phones in our car -- even if we didn't leave the driveway because so many traffic lights were out and we were being asked to travel only if necessary. It all definitely makes you think.
